Los Angeles Angels’ outfielder Taylor Ward left Saturday’s afternoon game against the Toronto Blue Jays following a scary scene that saw him take a pitch to the face.
With the bases loaded in the top of the fifth inning, Ward was facing a 2-0 count against Toronto pitcher Alek Manoah. The latter missed terribly with his 92 MPH fastball up high and hit Ward in the face.
Ward was on the floor for several minutes and required medical attention. Thankfully, he was fully conscious and alert as medical personnel carted Ward off the field. The Blue Jays then removed Manoah from the game following 4.1 innings pitched.
