Jake Marisnick’s collisions with Jonathan Lucroy at the plate during the bottom of the ninth inning of Sunday’s game between the Angels and Astros was brutal. There’s really no other way to describe it. The play left Lucroy unconscious for a moment, and forced him to take a trip to the hospital, where he was evaluated for a concussion.
Marisnick was called out on the play after video review, and it’s hard to argue with that ruling after seeing these alternate angles of the play:
Yikes. Whether Marisnick meant to do it or not, it’s hard to see the MLB letting this slide without some sort of suspension.
