Alex Bregman’s rumors are getting heated up after Pete Alonso’s deal with the Mets. The Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, and Toronto Blue Jays are still in pursuit of the third baseman. The Houston Astros are also keeping their doors open. It’s just a matter of time for Breggy to sign with a team, and it could be done before spring training.
The Blue Jays have an excellent opportunity to retain Vladimir Guerrero Jr. if they sign Bregman. Guerrero and the Blue Jays are rumored to be nearing a deal. Yet, it seems to be a long shot for now. Vladdy is open for a trade as he’s ready to become a free agent after the 2025 season.
Guerrero needs a promising future, something the Blue Jays seem to lack right now. The team is sure to get better, but the first baseman has bigger dreams. It’s time for the slugger to win a ring, which is currently Guerrero’s dream.
Adding Alex Bregman to the team will give Guerrero more hope for a better future. It might even make him reconsider joining another team. Ross Atkins missed out on Juan Soto and Pete Alonso, but they have a good shot at bringing in Bregman if they offer him a long-term deal. Bregman received an offer from the Chicago Cubs that was said to be worth $30 million per year. The All-Star showed no interest despite the offer having multiple opt-outs in a span of four years. Although there was a slight increase in the offer he received from the Astros, Bregman was not too keen.

The former Astros star is ready to take his chances. Reports have also stated that Breggy is not interested in joining the Blue Jays or the Tigers for various reasons. It’s unsure if Alex Bregman is waiting for the Astros to come back with the best offer.
While it makes sense for Bregman to remain in Houston, nothing seems to be working in his favor. Scott Boras will need to pull some strings to get a deal done soon. Apart from all the other teams, the Boston Red Sox are also pursuing the slugger.
