MLB trade rumors have been swirling around Alex Bregman for far too long. The former Astros star has yet to find a team, and it’s surprising that a player like Bregman is still a free agent. The same goes for Pete Alonso. Perhaps both players are seeking too much, or the teams are just playing the waiting game.
Bregman had more than five teams ready to pursue him. It started off with the Yankees, Blue Jays, Mets, etc. After all the buzz, it was narrowed down to the Detroit Tigers and the Boston Red Sox. Many believe the Red Sox will be his final destination.
With time passing and the Red Sox staying quiet, Bregman’s rumors have taken another exciting turn. The Houston Astros might not be done with Bregman yet, as rumors of a reunion are heating up. According to MLB insider Bob Nightengale, the Astros have not closed the door fully on Bregman.
“The Houston Astros are keeping the door ajar for free-agent third baseman Alex Bregman to return, but are not optimistic. Bregman has serious offers from at least 2 teams. If the Astros pulled it off, Bregman could stay at 3B, Isaac Paredes move to 2B and Jose Altuve move to LF,” Nightengale wrote.

Alex Bregman Could Pivot To The Astros If The Red Sox Drop Out
The Astros were clear on pursuing Bregman. Dana Brown said he wanted the slugger to remain in the Space City. Likewise, they made Bregman an offer, but he turned it down, seeking better options. Houston was unable to match his requirements. A short-term deal could be a better option for now.
If Bregman does not get an offer from the Red Sox or any other team, he might take what the Astros are ready to offer him. Paredes and Altuve shifting positions are left to be seen. Alex Bregman would not want to enter spring training as a free agent.

After all, he’s been a key piece in the franchise’s history, winning two World Series titles. The Astros fans love him, and a reunion will only make them happy. The Astros offered Bregman $156 million, and it still stands. Bumping up the offer a little can have Bregman return without hesitation. MLB trade rumors continue to swirl around free agents like Anthony Rizzo.
