Alex Bregman’s hot pursuit of a lengthy multi-million dollar contract is far from fulfilled. It was a not-so-cheerful free agency so far, but that does not prevent the star third baseman from lowering his ask.
While many teams are linked to him, rumors were high that he would narrow down his final choices to just a couple of teams. Recently, it became clearer that there are just two teams left on his list: the Toronto Blue Jays and the Boston Red Sox. Moving above just the rumors, Detroit Tigers manager A.J. Hinch also sounded off on any potential development for Bregman.
“I get asked about it on airplanes, in restaurants, walking down the street. I live in Houston during the offseason, so you can imagine how that’s gone. It’s obvious he is a very talented player, a very impactful player, and someone who’s close to my heart. This is a guy who I’m really close with,” Hinch recently said.

So now that his former mate Hinch is not pursuing Bregman for the Tigers, every offer now stands as a lowball.
“I’ve largely stayed away from talking about it because he’s not here. I’ve tried not to go into public relations banter on trying to recruit him here. But he can help any major league team. Time will tell where that is and what he chooses. Special guy,” Hinch added.
Hinch, despite his connection with Bregman at the Astros camp, remains tactful. He chooses not to publicly campaign for Breggy. Only time will tell how the Golden Globe Awardee’s fate turns around for a longer or a shorter contract.

Alex Bregman’s Long-Term Contract Expectation Is Still Skeptical
Alex Bregman’s expectation for a long-term contract has increasingly become a point of skepticism this offseason. MLB analyst Robert Murray recently highlighted this dilemma and expressed doubts about Bregman’s chances of securing a lucrative deal at this stage.
With teams wary of committing to lengthy contracts, Bregman’s demands may be hindering the chances of finalizing a new agreement. His insistence on a long-term deal appears misaligned with the current market climate, where franchises are exercising caution in their spending strategies.
“He still seeks a long-term contract. But at this point of the offseason I am pretty skeptical that he’ll ultimately end up getting it. We could see a decent amount of movement this week, and maybe, just maybe, that could include Alex Bregman,” Murray said.
Further complicating the situation is Bregman’s substantial asking price, which has led to multiple offers falling short of his expectations. According to MLB insider Bob Nightengale, teams like the Detroit Tigers and the Boston Red Sox have presented proposals spanning at least four years. Yet they’ve been hesitant to meet Bregman’s demands. His existing six-year counter only adds to the complexity
