A number of teams have expressed interest in Bregman, but sadly, it’s not the Houston Astros. Dana Brown reportedly offered Bregman $156 million for six years. However, Bregman wanted something close to $200 million. The Astros were keen on retaining the slugger until they signed Christian Walker.
Walker’s signing has put Alex Bregman and the Astros in an uncomfortable spot. The Astros have halted their negotiations after Walker’s deal. According to the Athletic’s Chandler Rome, Dana Brown had stalled the talks with Bregman.
Astros GM Dana Brown said negotiations between the team and Alex Bregman “stalled,” so the team pivoted. Brown said the Astros gave Bregman “a competitive offer,” but did not answer whether the club increased the reported 6 year, $156 million offer.
