Alex Bregman is still seeing teams linking with him as the rumor mill picks pace coming the spring season. While he had a nice deal from the Astros, Bregman rejected it right away in search of a comparatively more appealing one.
As the MLB offseason progresses, the Detroit Tigers are making a curious case for their pursuit of star third baseman Bregman. After securing a significant addition in pitcher Jack Flaherty on a two-year, $35 million deal, the Tigers now want someone on their infield. Bregman, a two-time All-Star, is viewed as a crucial piece to add value to teams struggling at third base.
ESPN’s Buster Olney reported Bregman as a top target for the Tigers. Despite their recent signing of Flaherty, the organization is not resting on its laurels. With interest swirling from five different teams, Bregman’s future remains very much in the air. He has the attention of some top teams including the likes of the Houston Astros, Chicago Cubs, and Boston Red Sox.
The Tigers need to be all over Alex Bregman right now. They won 86 games, then added Gleyber, Kahnle and now Flaherty. It’s been a solid offseason for them https://t.co/8ZShM8EW0v

Although Bregman’s credentials are truly undeniable. Other than his decorated baseball career, any team eyeing his service could get add-on benefits. His addition could transform the Tigers from contenders to frontrunners in the competitive American League Central. With Detroit having struggled at third base last season, this signing would balance a lineup that has leaned heavily on left-handed hitters.

Two Teams In Mix For Alex Bregman
While MLB analysts are linking Bregman with the Tigers, other teams in the race could not be ignored. Apart from the Tigers, the Boston Red Sox are locked in a competitive race to sign Bregman. Recent reports indicate that the two clubs are seen as “co-favorites” for Bregman’s signature as their interest is getting serious.

Despite months of speculation about Bregman’s future, the market for him appears to be heating up. While Boston is reportedly hesitant to offer anything longer than a four-year contract, Bregman and his agent, Scott Boras, are aiming for a six-year pact. This composition could complicate the Red Sox’s hopes of bringing him aboard.

Bregman, a right-handed hitter, could be a game-changer for either team as they both look to strengthen their lineups. While the Red Sox already have Rafael Devers established at third base, Bregman might shift him to second to better complement the lineup.
However, with Spring Training fast approaching and the teams remaining actively engaged in negotiations, the future remains uncertain. As pitchers and catchers report on February 11, the pressure is on for both franchises to finalize their plans.
