Anyone who doesn’t believe that hitting against a major league pitcher is the hardest thing to do in all of sports clearly hasn’t faced Abner Uribe’s sinker.
The Brewers’ rookie reliever owns a 1.69 ERA with 12 strikeouts in 10.2 innings so far this season. He’s dominating opposing batters, and it’s easy to see why after watching the insane movement on this 99 mile-per-hour sinker from Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The ball begins in the strike zone before breaking two feet down and away, making it impossible for Jack Suwinski to get a bat on it.
Uribe is getting his first taste of the majors this season after doing enough to impress the Brewers’ organization at the minor league level. And so far, he’s continued to impress with his impressive arsenal.
Uribe could prove to be a key part of the Brewers’ bullpen, as they enter the final stretch of the season. And with Milwaukee currently sitting atop the NL Central, we may also be seeing him stymie opposing batters in the postseason.
