When at a Baseball game and you’re not sitting behind a protected area, Baseball fans run the risk of being hit with a ball or a flying bat at anytime during a game.
That was the case when a 21-month-old girl was at her first ever Philadelphia Phillies game with her parents on Sunday night.
According to CBS Philadelphia, in the bottom of the fifth inning, “Lily” was drilled on the right side of her head with a foul ball that came from Bryce Harper.
Lily was taken by an ambulance to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where a CT scan would be taken and reveal no damage to the little girl.
Her mother, Angelica DiWilliams told Eyewitness News was diagnosed with tissue swelling.
“We are really so lucky that Lily was alert and her happy self after this freak accident,” DiWilliams wrote in a Facebook post.
DiWilliams then revealed that the Phillies would soon contact her and ask for updates on her daughter’s condition.

“They all have been so amazing and apologetic, even though we know this is nothing more than a freak accident,” DiWilliams said.
The team reportedly has offered Lily and her family the chance to come to any game of their choice and even the opportunity to be on the field for batting practice.
