After seven years of marriage together, Rory McIlroy filed for divorce from his wife, Erica.
In a statement, McIlroy’s public relations staff confirmed the divorce while explicitly stating that he would not be discussing it with the media.
Not discussing the divorce with the media is a hot topic this week because a new rumor regarding Rory McIlroy’s divorce has surfaced online.
CBS Sports golf reporter Amanda Balionis was on the call for the final round of the PGA Championship on Sunday, and she found herself at the center of controversy. Her name has been brought up as the woman who allegedly had a relationship with Rory McIlroy, which allegedly caused his impending divorce.
It doesn’t seem that Balionis, who wed former NFL quarterback Bryn Renner, is sporting her wedding band anymore. Because she hasn’t appeared in the ring this year, she has caused relationship rumors to surface at a few major golf events.
Both McIlroy and Balionis have filed for divorce from their partners.

Rory McIlroy Was Previously Engaged To Another Woman Before He Called Off Marriage
Rory McIlroy and Caroline Wozniacki abruptly called off their engagement a decade ago.
Wozniacki was McIlroy’s intended wife, but the golfer decided “that I wasn’t ready for all that marriage entails” before being married to Stoll in 2017. The two first met while Stoll was working for the PGA of America during the Medinah Ryder Cup in 2012.
“Rory’s desire is to ensure this difficult time is as respectful and amicable as possible,” the statement read. “He won’t be making any further comment.”
