On Sunday, golf legend Tiger Woods announced on Twitter that he had to withdraw from the 2023 Masters tournament due to a foot injury.
Woods stated that he reaggravated a plantar fasciitis injury in his right foot. The 47-year-old thanked the fans and Masters, closing out with a message of good luck to the competitors.

The five-time Masters champion has endured a plethora of injuries over the past decade and a half. And as such, has had to limit his golfing schedule over the years.
Woods has undergone four back surgeries over a three-year span from 2014 to 2017. On Feb. 23, 2021, Woods was in a single-vehicle accident which required him to be hospitalized. He suffered multiple leg injuries, including tibia and fibula fractures in his right leg.

Woods won 14 majors from 1997 to 2008, putting him in good position to break Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18. But the aforementioned injuries and a well-documented divorce from Elin Nordegren prompted Woods to take several lengthy hiatuses from golf since 2009.
The golf icon completed one of the all-time great comeback stories by winning the 2019 Masters, which marked the 15th majors win of his career. Time is ticking on Woods to catch Nicklaus record. But given all the injuries he’s endured up to this point, it’s simply amazing that he’s still out there playing with the best in the world.
