Tiger Woods is in more danger of being canceled over his apology for handing Justin Thomas a tampon than for actually handing Justin Thomas a tampon.
The star golfer handed JT the female sanitary product during the first round of the Genesis Invitational after outdriving him on the ninth hole and, though it was all fun and games between the two, the prank has earned Tiger criticism as some folks perceive it to be sexist.
“Yeah, it was supposed to be all fun and games and obviously it hasn’t turned out that way,” Woods said in front of reporters on Friday. “If I offended anybody, it was not the case, it was just friends having fun.”
The veteran noted that he and Thomas are close friends who play practical jokes on each other during rounds but offered an apology, insisting he wasn’t trying to be offensive and was only having some fun with his buddy.
“As I said, if I offended anybody in any way, shape or form, I’m sorry,” he added. “It was not intended to be that way. It was just we play pranks on one another all the time and virally I think this did not come across that way, but between us it was — it’s different.”
While Tiger has taken the high road here, social media absolutely hates it.
