Photos have been released of the injuries suffered by the police officer who arrested PGA golf star Scottie Scheffler three weeks ago.
Scottie Scheffler was arrested by Louisville, Kentucky Detective Bryan Gillis while he was driving to the Valhalla Golf Club for the second round of the 2024 PGA Championship on May 17.
Traffic had been stopped because of a tragic accident where a male pedestrian died after being hit by a bus while crossing the street. Gillis told Scheffler to stop driving, but the world No. 1 golfer continued with his vehicle before ultimately being halted and detained.
Per ESPN’s Mark Schlabach, Scheffler was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, disregarding an officer’s traffic signals, reckless driving and second-degree assault of a police officer. Gillis also said he had to be treated at a hospital for his injury,
Lachlan McLean of Spectrum News 1 shared photos of the minor injuries Gillis suffered during the incident. You can see minor cuts on his knee and wrist, as well as a rip in what he claimed were $80 pants:
