On his approach to the PGA Championship on Friday morning, Masters winner Scottie Scheffler was arrested. Stunning photos of the incident show him being brought to a police car while handcuffed. According to ESPN, he disobeyed police directives while a pedestrian death investigation was underway.
Just as Scheffler was ready to head into the second round of the tournament at Louisville, Kentucky’s Valhalla Golf Course, he was charged with an arrest for allegedly disobeying police orders.
More information has since come out.
According to the police, a bus struck a person who was crossing the street in a lane designated for tournament traffic.
According to ESPN, Scheffler—the top player in the world—passed a police officer in his SUV, which had a sticker on the door identifying it as a PGA Championship car. Scheffler was scheduled to begin the second round at 8:48 a.m. About ten yards later, Scheffler came to a stop as the officer yelled at him to stop and then grabbed onto the car.
ESPN’s Jeff Darlington observed this happening. He claimed that after forcing Scheffler out of the vehicle and putting him up against it, the officers handcuffed him right away.

“Scheffler was then walked over to the police car, placed in the back, in handcuffs, very stunned about what was happening, looked toward me as he was in those handcuffs and said, ‘Please help me,'” Darlington said. “He very clearly did not know what was happening in the situation. It moved very quickly, very rapidly, very aggressively.”
According to Darlington, police weren’t sure who Scottie Scheffler was. He claimed that after an officer asked him to leave and identified himself as a member of the media, he was told there was nothing more he could do. He’s heading to jail.
Later, according to Darlington, a different policeman showed up with a notepad and asked whether he knew the name of the individual they had handcuffed.
