PGA Tour star Angel Cabrera found out his punishment this week as he was sentenced to 2 years behind bars after being convicted of assaulting his ex-girlfriend back in 2016.
Among the many women he has been accused of commiting domestic violence against is Cecilia Torres Mana, who was with Cabrera from 2016 to 2018, whose accusation led to these charges. He allegedly punched her in the face and tried to run over her with his car in 2016.
Officials say the golfer — who won the 2009 Masters — roughed up, threatened and harassed his former partner.
Last month, he was extradited to Argentina to face trial for the domestic assault case.
“His situation is much more complex than this, he has other charges for which there are arrest warrants, too. There are other victims,” prosecutor Laura Battistelli told Argentine TV network Todo Noticias, per ESPN.
Cabrera is slated to serve his sentence right away, according to the report.
