After the devastating loss at Marco Simone GC last year, Team USA looks for retribution. To do that, their new captain, Keegan Bradley, has better strategies. Although the Ryder Cup is still a year away, the LIV golfers’ participation is still questionable. However, the man who will face Luke Donald at Beth Page in 2025 has a very clear mindset of the same.
During his captaincy announcement press conference on Tuesday, July 8, Bradley asserted wanting “best players.” He said,
“I’m going to have the 12 best players on the team. I don’t care what or where they play. So we’re, we have a mission to win this tournament. I’m not worried about the LIV stuff. I want the best players on the team.”
Notably, LIV Golf’s Brooks Koepka made it into the Zach Johnson-led US team for the Ryder Cup 2023. But, according to the US captain, the prestigious biennial event is still a long way to go. He emphasized giving opportunities to the breakaway series player if they “are on the fringe.”
Keegan Bradley Reacts On Getting US Ryder Cup Team Captaincy
After Tiger Woods rejected the captaincy offer, reports circulated that Bradley would take over Johnson as the new US captain for the upcoming Ryder Cup at Beth Page. However, it was an astonishing decision from the PGA of America, especially because the six-time PGA Tour champion had never been a vice-captain like his predecessors.
Talking about his reaction when he was offered the role, Keegan Bradley said in the captaincy announcement press conference,
“I don’t think I’ll ever be more surprised by anything in my entire life. I had no idea. It took a while for it to sink in.”
