We’ve been witnessing the rise of sports-related documentaries and biopics, and it appears as though John Daly will be the next to have his story told on the big screen.
The film does not yet have a released date or title, but there are some details emerging, including the big names who are expected to be involved.
First, it was reported that Hotel Mumbai director Anthony Maras would take on the project. And now, word has it that he’s bringing buddy Jonah Hill into the mix to play the role of the so-called “Bad Boy of Golf,” John Daly.
Via Above The Line:
As it turns out, the team at Hideout had a prior relationship with Daly, and when they mentioned it to their agents at Verve, the agency thought it would be a good fit for Maras, who, in turn, is friendly with Hill. The filmmakers are now seeking a writer to tackle the script.
The film is expected to focus on Daly’s life as one of the PGA’s most recognizable faces, while also examining his scandalous, wild experiences away from the course. Based on what we know about Daly, and the case that’s building for this biopic, this is sure to be some must-see television.
