Scottie Scheffler will miss the first event of 2025 after he was rushed to the hospital.
The World No. 1 golfer suffered a puncture wound to the palm of his right hand from a broken glass while preparing dinner on Christmas Day. It was so bad that he had to get surgery to remove glass fragments, the PGA Tour announced Friday.
Scheffler, the reigning PGA Tour Player of the Year after winning seven times in 2024, will be out for three to four weeks, which means he has to withdraw from the 2025 season opener, The Sentry, which will be played Jan. 2-5 in Kapalua, Hawai’i.

“He has been told that he should be back to 100 percent in three to four weeks,” according to his manager, Blake Smith.
It was a strange way to end 2024 as it may go down as the season Scheffler firmly cemented his place as golf’s best player. In this year alone, Scottie Scheffler won eight tour events and nine tournaments worldwide.
Off the course, he was just as great, as he and his wife, Meredith, had their first child in the spring.

Scheffler has held the world No. 1 title since May 2023.
Scottie Scheffler’s Only Hiccup Of 2024 Was Him Getting Arrested
Scottie Scheffler has been world No. 1 for months.
The Paris 2024 Olympic gold medallist won six times before July and became the first to successfully defend his title at THE PLAYERS Championship. He also won for the second time in three years at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
The only hiccup that Scheffler had was him being arrested.
He was arrested on May 17 in Louisville before the second round began and charged with second-degree assault of a police officer when he attempted to enter Valhalla Golf Club.
Luckily for him, the charges were later dropped.
