The entire golf world is praying for PGA Tour golfer Gary Woodland after he made a very concerning announcement on X earlier today.
According to a post he shared with his fans, the 2019 US Open winner is set to undergo surgery to remove a lesion that was found on his brain.
Woodland adds that the lesion was discovered a few months ago, but doctors have decided that the best course of action at the moment is surgery, after initially trying to treat the symptoms with medication.
“I wanted to share a recent health development with you,” Woodland tells his fans. “On September 18th, I’ll be having surgery to remove a lesion found on my brain.”
Woodland concludes his statement by saying, “I’m in good spirits with my family and team by my side and so thankful for the love and support of everyone.”
The 39-year-old American first turned professional back in 2007. He has six professional wins and has reached as high as no. 12 on the World Golf Rankings. This past year, he had his best ever finish at The Masters Tournament, coming in a tie for 14th place.
