Tiger Woods has come under heavy criticism for his latest antics on the golf course.
The 47-year-old made a return to the game this week, taking part in the Genesis Invitational at the Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles. He shared a funny moment with Justin Thomas after outdriving him on the ninth hole, shading the 2022 PGA Championship winner by handing him a tampon.
Tiger’s obvious attempt at a good prank hasn’t gone down well with everyone and he’s since fielded accusations of being sexist. Cara Banks of The Golf Channel tore into the veteran golfer on Friday, claiming she was offended by his actions.
“Unfortunately, the narrative hasn’t really been focused on Tiger’s golf today,” Banks noted. “I was offended, to be totally honest with you. As a woman, I was shocked to see that the GOAT of our game, at least the active GOAT, is walking around carrying an intimate feminine hygiene product that we use to stop ourselves bleeding. I have no idea where this kind of premeditated act came from, let alone where he got the tampon from.”
Analyst Brandon Chamblee, who was sat next to Banks and has experienced sexism accusations following his use of the term “B*tch slap” a few years ago, branded Tiger’s tampon prank “dumb,” suggesting Woods should have known how some people would react.

“At best, you can say it was an inelegant and tacky attempt at playfully insulting a friend of his,” Chamblee said. “No doubt, offensive to many and demeaning to others, but I would say some of the predictable outrage on social media attempts to assign the worst possible intent to his actions. Can’t we just say it was ‘dumb’ without further maligning him?”
Woods has since apologized, telling reporters he meant no offense to anyone and was simply playing a prank on a good friend, as he’s wont to do.
“It was supposed to be fun and games, but obviously it hasn’t turned out that way,” the pro golfer said. “If I offended anybody in any way, shape, or form, I’m sorry.”
