Sports fans were making the same joke after learning about the name of the man who helped PGA golf star Rory McIlroy in his divorce proceedings.
Last month, it was reported that Rory McIlroy was divorcing his wife, Erica Stoll. The two had been married since 2017, and they have one daughter together. The 35-year-old golfer has received some criticism for apparently having a friend hand the divorce papers to Stoll.
As reported by Mark Tighe of the Belfast Telegraph last week, McIlroy had private investigator Carl Woods hand Stoll their divorce papers. Woods is a former Palm Beach, Florida police officer who currently runs a private practice.
With Carl Woods sharing the same name as golf icon Tiger Woods, fans on X/Twitter wasted no time sharing the same joke:

The divorce clearly hasn’t done much to affect McIlroy’s performance on the greens. He finished in a tie for fifth place at the PGA Championship with a score of -5, four shots behind winner Xander Schauffele (-9).
At last weekend’s RB Canadian Open, McIlroy finished with an excellent score of -13. But it was Robert MacIntyre who emerged victorious with a score of -16, aided by his excellent score of 64 in round one.
Rory McIlroy Aims For Fifth Major Title
McIlroy was once on pace to cement himself as an all-time great in golf, having won four majors from 2011 to 2014. He was victorious in the 2011 U.S. Open, The Open Championship in 2014 and the 2012 and 2014 PGA Championships.
McIlroy has not won a single majors since, however, though he came close with a second-place finish in the 2022 Masters (won by Scottie Scheffler). Next week, McIlroy will try to win his fifth major when he tees off at the 2024 U.S. Open at the Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
After that, McIlroy will compete in the final major of 2024, The Open Championship, at Scotland’s historic Royal Troon Golf Club in Troon, South Ayrshire.
