The officer who arrested Scottie Scheffler last Friday is facing punishment.
The City of Louisville held a press conference on Thursday to address the shocking developments coming from the PGA Championship last Friday and made certain revelations regarding the arresting officer.
Scheffler, the world No. 1, was taken into police custody after he attempted to drive around a fatal accident that had just occurred near the tournament’s venue. The golfer was booked and released in time to play through his round.
He later explained that he did not try to disobey any orders and that the incident resulted from a huge miscommunication.
The officer in question, Bryan Gillis, was not wearing his body camera at the time of the arrest, which goes against protocol. The City of Louisville revealed on Thursday that he was being disciplined internally.
“Detective Gillis did not have his body-worn camera operational ready. Our officer has received corrective action for his policy violation. We respect the judicial process, and we will allow the courts to proceed,” Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel, the Louisville Police Chief, told reporters.

Scottie Scheffler’s Charges Aren’t Being Dropped
Scottie Scheffler was hit with four charges on Friday, namely second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic.
They hadn’t been dropped at the time of writing.
Speaking to reporters after playing on Friday, Scheffler insisted that he was treated well by the police.
“The officers in jail were great and very kind,” he said. “I was pretty rattled, to say the least… I was never angry, I was just in shock. I was shaking for about an hour.”
The PGA star was scheduled to play at the Charles Schwab Challenge this Thursday.
