Janae Edmondson and her family are obviously devaststed this week after a tragic accident cost the teenage volleyball player her legs.
Edmondson, who was in town for a volleyball tournament, was injured while walking back to a hotel with her family. The driver, 21-year-old Daniel Riley, sped through an intersection before hitting 17-year-old Janae Edmonson abd crushing her.
Edmondson’s father shared that she yelled at him, “Step back, step back!” Her mother told the judge she watched as one of her daughter’s legs was torn off as a result.
Riley was unlicensed and out on bond for a 2022 robbery. He was not only suposed to be on house arrest, but he also had “numerous violations of his ankle monitor” in the days before striking the teenager.
It was reported that he had violated his bond “at least seven times” since February 1st.

The saddest part of this story is that Edmundson is on a ventilator and her parents are struggling with how they will find the words to tell their daughter she has no legs.
Daniel Riley was arrested on charges of second-degree assault. Riley pleaded not guilty to the new charges against him related to the reckless driving crash. The judge denied him bond.
