A Zamboni driver has been arrested and charged with DUI in Quebec, Canada, this week after crashing said vehicle into the boards while resurfacing the ice between two hockey games.
A video of the incident has since gone viral. It shows the low-speed crash that damaged one of the ring doors, with several fans apparently watching on in shock as it happened.
The driver had more than enough time to steady the Zamboni or simply stop but still ended up going straight into the board, which leads us to believe he either fell asleep or wildly misjudged the distance.

“I kinda assumed that every Zamboni driver had a few in them at all times,” someone wrote in the comments.
“Aside from the kangaroo costume, this is one of the most Canadian things i’ve ever seen,” another added.
“So it’s technically a ZUI?” someone joked.
“That ice is slippery. Police should have taken that into account,” said a fourth.
“A guy can’t even get drunk and dress up like a kangaroo all while driving a Zamboni anymore….smh,” one comment read.
“How easy is it to not hit the boards, seriously?! Every Zamboni driver ever makes a living but not hitting the boards. Get it together, man,” a not-so-forgiving user chimed in.
Sargent Martin Fournel of Securite Publique MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais spoke to the National Post and noted that “several people witnessed the event, and one of them called police after seeing signs that the driver was impaired.”
A sobriety test was issued after police arrived, and the driver was arrested for DUI.
