New San Antonio Spurs big man Victor Wembanyama has broken his silence on the incident in which a member of his security team slapped Britney Spears and is suggesting that she isn’t being entirely truthful.
Spears claimed to have tapped the player on the shoulder to ask for a photo but the 2023 first-overall pick has countered that, insisting she grabbed him from behind.
The Frenchman unloaded his version of events on KENS 5 reporter Nate Ryan on Thursday afternoon and recalled being asked to continue walking while heading to Catch restaurant at the ARIA Hotel in Las Vegas as many people were calling for him.
He said one woman kept asking for him before running up and putting her arms around him. He had no idea it was Spears at the time.
“I didn’t see what happened, because I was walking straight and we were told, ‘Don’t stop,'” he said. “But that person grabbed me from behind — not on my shoulder, she grabbed me from behind — and so I just know the security pushed her away.”
“I don’t know with how much force, though. But security pushed her away. I didn’t stop to look so I could walk in and enjoy the nice dinner.”
Wembanyama said it took him several hours to learn the “person” was Britney Spears as he never got to see her face.

“At first I was like, ‘No, you’re joking,'” he said. “But, yeah, it turns out it was Britney Spears.”
Spears has since filed a report with the police.
