Things turned ugly following a CFL playoff game earlier today, as players from the visiting Toronto Argonauts made their way into the crowd and were mixing it up with fans after one Tiger-Cats supporter supposedly spit beer in a player’s face.
The Argos players had just seen their season end with a heartbreaking 27-19 loss in the Easter Conference Finals to their rivals from Hamilton. As the players made their way off the field, Chris Edwards made his way into the stands. He appeared to be looking for somewhen, when a Tiger-Cats fan can be seen getting in the face of the Argos defensive back and pushing him. That’s when Edwards decided he had seen enough, as he swung on the fan.
From there, all hell broke loose. It seemed as though security had things under control at one point, but then another clip shows members of the Argos staff fighting fans on the other side of a barricade as the players make their way into the locker room.
There are so many questions I have here, like why is the visiting team’s locker room entrance located in the stands, where was all of the security during this, and how did this not get even uglier?
With the Grey Cup set to take place in Hamilton next week, organizers might want to spend a bit of time trying to figure out how to make things a little safer for the visiting team.
