Kansas City Chiefs’ wide receiver Skyy Moore detailed how teammate Travis Kelce injured his knee during Tuesday’s practice.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Kansas City head coach Andy Reid stated that Kelce is questionable for Thursday’s game against the Detroit Lions after hyper-extending his knee in practice.
“I was in on that play, so I was running a route,” Moore explained, per Nate Taylor of The Athletic. “I was talking to somebody and he was limping, just walking off the field. It was a good sign to see him get up by himself and get off the field.”
The fact Kelce was able to get up on his own is certainly a good sign that he avoided a serious injury. But if he has to miss time, it’ll make things that much more difficult for a Kansas City offense that has a fairly difficult schedule to start the year.
Kansas City is likely to be without star defensive tackle Chris Jones for Thursday’s game (and probably much longer) as he remains engaged in a holdout. If Kansas City is missing its top offensive weapon for that game, it’ll make a victory against a scrappy Lions’ team that much tougher.

The 33-year-old Kelce has been remarkably durable throughout his career, appearing in at least 15 games every year since his 2014 sophomore season.
