Tuesday night was supposed to be a massive night of celebration in New Orleans as fans of college football and the people of the city in general were preparing to bring in the new year. However, things did not go according to plan.
During New Year’s Eve on Bourbon Street in Louisianna, there was a terrorist attack confirmed by the FBI as a 42-year-old man decided to drive a pick-up truck through a crowd of people before being shot and killed by police.
42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar was identified as a Navy veteran. Jabbar was from Texas and drove from Texas to New Orleans before the attack. It was also later confirmed that he had an ISIS flag attached to his truck as well as guns in the vehicle.
However, the heroes of Tuesday night’s attack are the first responders. Cameras caught the brave souls on Bourbon Street that night running straight towards the danger, and not one of them hesitated before heading straight into the line of duty.

A camera on the street caught a group of 10 officers chatting with each other before they noticed that something had gone wrong just down the street. Without hesitation, all 10 of them booked it down the street.

Unfortunately, there were some lives lost that night as the death total has now been confirmed at 14 just one day after the incident. At least 35 people were hospitalized following the attack, however it’s unclear whether or not anymore have passed.
Jabbar had posted a video before the violent act of terrorism where he claimed his loyalty to ISIS and claimed that he had an urge to kill, which he would unfortunately later do. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the friends and family of the individuals hurt or killed in the attack.
