In-N-Out owner Lynsi Snyder has broken her silence about why the Oakland storefront closed in January in a recent sit-down interview.
In January, In-N-Out made nationwide headlines after announcing for the first time in the restaurant’s 75-year history that they were forced to shut down a location permanently.
Sales had nothing to do with it.
At the time, Denny Warnick, the burger chain’s operating officer, revealed that the Oakland location had to close due to “ongoing issues with crime” in the area. The site sits near Oakland International Airport, and it permanently shut its doors on March 24.
The location was operational for nearly two decades.
Months later, In-N-Out CEO Lynsi Snyder has done a sit-down interview to further disclose the issues behind the troubled location and the company’s decision to end operations in Oakland.
The In-N-Out heiress whose grandparents founded the popular burger chain said the Oakland location was shut down because the site was “absolutely dangerous.”

“I mean, there was a lot,” Lynsi Snyder told Marissa Streit of PragerU.
“There was actually — gunshots went through the store, there was a stabbing, there was a lot.”
The 42-year-old added that the company shuttered the profitable outpost “for the safety of our associates” because “we just felt like, this is not OK.”

Lynsi Snyder revealed it was the ‘absolutely dangerous’ conditions that led to the closure of the popular burger joint in Oakland.
The restaurant was forced to close its doors in March after police logged a staggering 1,335 criminal incidents in its location since 2019.
Until crime in the area is addressed, residents shouldn’t expect another location to open up for years to come.
