It’s been reported that the bullets used in the murder of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson had some curious wording on them.
Thompson, 50, was shot dead outside of the midtown New York Hilton on Wednesday morning, with surveillance footage capturing a gunman walking toward him before firing at him several times, hitting him in the back.
“We are deeply saddened and shocked at the passing of our dear friend and colleague Brian Thompson, the CEO of United Healthcare. Brian was a highly respected colleague and friend to all who worked with him,” United Healthcare said in a statement following the shocking incident. “We are working closely with the New York Police Department and ask for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. Our hearts go out to Brian’s family and all who were close to him.”
Investigators believe Thompson was targeted because his assailant appeared to wait for him while others passed.
“Many people passed the suspect but he appeared to wait for his intended target,” New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch told reporters.
The suspect remains at large, but reports from Thursday suggest the NYPD could benefit from a development as the words “deny,” “depose,” and “defend” were engraved on the shells found at the scene.
This remains unconfirmed, but if true, it could give credence to the notion that the murder was part of something bigger that concerns the health insurance industry, as the words almost match the title of a book detailing the way insurance companies wriggle out of paying claims.

Brian Thompson Had Received Threats Before He Was Killed
According to Brian’s wife, Paulette Thompson, the CEO was threatened before he was murdered.
“There had been some threats,” she told NBC News. “Basically, I don’t know, a lack of coverage? I don’t know details. I just know that he said there were some people that had been threatening him.”
Thanks to the surveillance footage, police have an idea of what the suspect looks like, but they haven’t yet identified him.
The NYPD is offering $10,000 to anyone with information.
