There was a time when mobs were involved in MMA. It’s real! It’s for real! If you’re new to combat sports, you may not know that before UFC bought Pride, it was reportedly run by Yakuza. Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, who had previously signed with Pride, recently shared his experience of encountering the infamous gang for the first time in his life.
In the latest episode of PowerfulJRE on YouTube, the host Joe Rogan questioned Jackson about his experience at Pride and his knowledge of Yakuza running the promotion. The 46-year-old MMA fighter said,
“Man, it was crazy. It was for real. I remember the first time I noticed that the mob had something to do with Pride. I saw these guys walking down the hallway like, when we was doing like the the piss test. And I was coming back from the bathroom with my cup. I just see these guys walk around like nice and expensive suits. Then everybody just put their head down put their back against the wall and just bow.”
“I was like what the f**k is going on. You know coach, a Shar, I had no idea right and then after a while I asked somebody they’re like. Oh, those… those the bosses, those the Yaka,” added Jackson.
The revelation almost left Joe Rogan’s mouth wide open – after all, even talking about Yakuza thrills spines.
Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson And Joe Rogan Sort Things Out Between Each Other
People know Rogan for his notorious tendency to make comments that may infuriate any MMA fighter, leaving the famous podcaster getting criticized often. Back in the day, the famous podcaster made a comment similar to Rampage Jackson’s. However, MMA fighters did not take it well at that time.
However, recently, when Jackson was present on the PowerfulJRE, he apologized for his actions and reconciled with Joe Rogan. He recalled that fans’ comments on his social media indeed infuriated him, not his comments.
Jackson said, “It wasn’t nothing you said, it’s the f***ing fans. When you said that, they all come to me on my social media.”
