A military fighter jet went down into San Diego Bay this Wednesday morning, with two pilots needing to be rescued, according to the San Diego Fire Department.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Navy has confirmed as much to ABC 10 News, noting that the aircraft was an E/A-18 G Growler and that the pilots ejected safely. According to U.S. Coast Guard, the pilots were rescued by a fishing boat and only spent around a minute in the water.
They were transferred to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection boat before being taken to hospital.
A press conference was held by the Port of San Diego Harbor Police Department this afternoon.

The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department responded following the incident but was pulled back because federal emergency responders recovered the pilots from the water. They included personnel from the Navy, Coast Guard, and Port of San Diego Harbor Police Department.
Both airmen were taken to UC San Diego Health in Hillcrest. Their injuries were unknown at the time of writing, but they were both said to be in stable condition.
