Chris Brewer won his first gold bracelet to the tune of $5,293,556 as the World Series of Poker $250,000 Super High Roller Bowl ended on Sunday night.
The poker tourney wasn’t without its share of drama as Prague national Martin Kahbrel was accused of cheating after another competitor called him out for antics. Kahbrel does have a prickly reputation and isn’t very well-liked in the poker community, so the internet piled on after Dan Smith lashed out at him after his elimination.
Smith was kicked off the table in sixth place, with Kahbrel eliminating him, and is out $912,022. But, prior to leaving, he said “good luck (to) most of you” as he pointed to Martin Kabrhel and told him, “I hope you get barred.”
Kahbrelpretended not to be sure what Smith was getting at so the latter explained that he hopes he gets banned, telling him his “antics are the worst of anyone,” to which Kahbrel replied, “somebody must be worse.”
While he didn’t go as far as accusing him of cheating, fans took to Twitter with footage showing Martin appearing to mark cards.
“Whether you think Martin is entertaining or not is irrelevant,” one fan tweeted. “The guy is a known scum who is always going to try to cheat and angle, and he should not be allowed to play with the other players who are the best in the world who have the upmost integrity for the game. Keep the integrity of the game! Ban the cheaters!”

The clip shown below shows poker pro Artur Martirosian calling Kahbrel out for standing, which is against the rules. This was put in place to prevent players from looking at each other’s cards.
“The reason you’re not allowed to stand is if the cards are marked you’d have a better handle of it,” Smith is heard telling him.
Chance Kornuth jumps in saying “they created the rule for you, to protect us. If you have any more questions, let us know.”
Following his elimination, Smith noted that Martin was accused of marking cards but didn’t allege as much outright himself.
