Over the weekend, former Duke football offensive lineman Kade Parmelly sadly lost his life at a young age, according to Duke Football Talk.
He was just 24 years old.
Parmelly, who transferred to Duke from Abilene Christian, was diagnosed with leukemia in February.
“In February of this year, Kade was diagnosed with leukemia,” Duke Football Talk’s Josh Cox wrote. His friends and family pulled together to do all they could to help. But chemotherapy was a drain, as many of you could imagine. It began to take its toll both physically and mentally. After an extremely difficult week of chemo this past week, Kade went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 7th.”
He only spent one season with the Blue Devils, but it was more than enough to touch a lot of people. Many posts online touched on his infectious personality and his coaches and teammates took to him very quickly.

Parmelly last played in 12 games for Duke, making one start, back during the 2021 season. He transferred to play for the Blue Devils after working his way into being a two-time team captain and an honorable mention All-Southland Conference pick at Abilene Christian.
We send condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
