Joey Chestnut has revealed his Fourth of July plans for 2024.
Chestnut will not be competing in the annual ‘Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest’ this year for the first time in 20 years, but he’s going to be doing some eating all the same.
With his Nathan’s deal a thing of the past due to his partnership with Impossible Foods, the 40-year-old will be at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, for Independence Day, where he will take on four U.S. soldiers in a hot dog eating contest.
While this seems like an easy gig for Joey, given his prowess as a consumer, there is a stipulation that will make things rather challenging for him.
According to the Associated Press, Joey Chestnut would have to out-eat all four of the servicemen in a five-minute contest to be declared the winner.
The 16-time Nathan’s champion is still favored, though, having set a record by going through 76 dogs in 10 minutes back in 2021.

Joey Chestnut Is Sticking To Meat On July 4
Chestnut claimed he was heartbroken to learn he would not be able to participate in this year’s competition.
“I love competing in that event. I love celebrating America with my fans all over this great country on the 4th and I have been training to defend my title,” he tweeted last month. “Sadly, this is the decision Nathan’s and Major League Eating are making, and it will deprive the great fans of the holiday’s usual joy and entertainment.”
Chestnut confirmed he will be eating “all-beef hot dogs” on Thursday but has invited Impossible Foods to come dish out their plant-based dogs and other products.
