Isaiah Thomas is one of the most recognizable figures in the world of the NBA, but that is due to his small stature. The 5’9″ guard had an impressive run with the Celtics in the mid 2010s which earned him his only two NBA All-Star selections.
But recently he took an issue with Stephen A. Smith’s top 5 list of the best playoff runs by small guards. Jalen Brunson’s this season’s run made the top of the list, besting 2016 Kyrie Irving, 2019 Damian Lillard, 2015 Steph Curry and 2001 Allen Iverson.
After being left out of the list, Isaiah Thomas took to social media and wrote, “Small guards? lol ok. I must be miniature then” via his X (formerly known as Twitter) handle. The post soon circulated around the social media platform and fans did not waste time expressing their opinion over Isaiah’s dispute. Here are some of the comments below:

Isaiah received some backing from a few Celtics faithful, but most were against the former Suns guard, as not many might have remembered his stellar run with the Boston side.
Looking Back at Isaiah Thomas’ Celtics Run
Isaiah Thomas joined the Celtics in February 2015 in a trade with the Phoenix Suns. His first season saw him have limited opportunities in which he averaged 19 points per game. From the next season, Isaiah picked up the gear and averaged 22.2 points and earned an NBA All-Star reserves selection, making him the lowest draft pick to participate in the game, as Thomas was drafted 60th in round 2 in 2011.
Though the Cs fell to the Hawks in round one, the season proved to be a productive one for the guard. He then carried that form and improved it in the next season, which saw him averaging 28.9 points. He broke the franchise record for most games with consecutive 20+ points and stopped at 43.
The Celtics made a deep playoff run that season only to be beaten by the Cavs after dispatching the Bulls and the Wizards in the previous two rounds. After that, it all went downhill for Thomas due to recurring injuries and substance abuse before finally finding shelter in his former parish, the Suns, for the 2023-24 season. After the first-round exit of the Suns, his contract with the franchise ran out, and now he is again a free agent waiting for his next opportunity.
