Gigi Hadid likely never thought she would ever be placed under arrest, but it happened this week.
Hadid was arrested for marijuana possession while on vacation in the Cayman Islands earlier this month, according to a new report.
“The 28-year-old supermodel and a friend were taken into custody after customs officials allegedly found “ganja and utensils used for the consumption of ganja” in their luggage on July 10, local outlet Cayman Marl Road reported,” the New York Post reported.
“Hadid and her friend Leah Nicole McCarthy were arrested on suspicion of Importation of Ganja and Importation of Utensils used for the consumption of Ganja.
“The two were taken to the Prisoner Detention Center and later released on bail.”
Hadid and her friend were both reportedly transported to the prisoner-detention center after their luggage was searched by customs officials at Owen Roberts International Airport and were eventually released on bail.
The two allegedly appeared in court on July 12 and were charged, and though each person pleaded guilty and was fined $1,000, Cayman Marl Road reported: “no conviction was recorded.”
A representative for Hadid clarified that the weed she was carrying was legal, telling E! News: “Gigi was traveling with marijuana purchased legally in NYC with a medical license. It has also been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017. Her record remains clear and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island.”

The incident reportedly did not stop them from enjoying themselves as she and her friend posted poolside thirst traps at Palm Heights Hotel.
Getting arrested for having marijuana is just not a big of deal as it used to be as many states have legalized it after treating it like a major crime in the past.
