The first clear photo from the site of Wednesday night’s plane crash has surfaced online in the wake of the tragedy.
The unthinkable happened on the night, as a military helicopter collided with an American Airlines jet flying from Wichita, Kansas, around 9:00 p.m. EST. There were 60 passengers and four crew members on the plane, while three soldiers were on the helicopter.
A photo of the American Airlines jet in the Potomac River has since been shared on social media. You can see it right below:

Multiple Bodies Recovered From Potomac River After Tragic Plane Crash
American Airlines CEO Robert Isom said he wasn’t sure why a military chopper would be in the landing path of a commercial flight.
However, U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy claimed that both the plane and the helicopter were on their regular flight patterns.
“At this point, we don’t believe there are survivors from this accident, and we have recovered 27 people from this plane and one from the helicopter,” D.C. Fire and EMS Chief John A. Donnelly remarked.
Authorities say no one survived the tragic plane crash.
At least 27 bodies have been recovered from the Potomac River, with search and rescue operations still ongoing.
