However, during a recent UFC 312 press conference, Dana White was asked about Khamzat Chimaev’s next fight. In response, White provided insight into what’s next for Dricus du Plessis and Strickland, depending on who wins this weekend. Addressing Chimaev’s status, White stated:
“I don’t know anything about him being here. As far as I know he’s not going to be at the event, no. And, obviously, he’s in line [for a title shot].”
Now, the undefeated middleweight title challenger Khamzat Chimaev will have to wait to find out who his next opponent will be. His eventual title shot is bound to be a massive fight that fans won’t want to miss.

Strickland and Chimaev have been trading shots on social media, with Strickland repeatedly taking digs at Chimaev, even calling him a “wh*re.” While Chimaev has remained silent, MMA veteran Tam Khan wants him to settle the score inside the octagon. Khan believes that if the two face off, Chimaev will dominate Strickland even worse than Khabib Nurmagomedov did to Conor McGregor at UFC 229. Sharing his thoughts on X, Khan wrote:
“Dricus beats Strickland. BUT I want Strickland to win only because I can’t wait for @KChimaev to crush him & ruin his life. He will do what Khabib did to Conor but worse. All that shit talking will catch up on you, redneck.”
