Last week, Auburn gymnast Samantha Cerio dislocated both knees and tore multiple ligaments during a routine that shocked not only everybody inside the building, but millions of people who saw the viral video on social media in the days after.
The Auburn University gymnast retired from the sport she loved following that devastating injury, but did set a goal, which is walking down the aisle at her wedding in two months.
On Instagram, Cerio has been flooded with love from strangers, but she’s also been flooded with people tagging her in replays of that video which prompted her to take to her Instagram Story and kindly ask people to stop using her horrible moment for their own personal entertainment.
“Those of you posting and tagging me in the video of my injury, I am asking you to please stop,” Cerio wrote.
“Going through the pain and seeing my knees bent unnaturally in real life was horrible enough, but continue to see it from videos/pictures because some people feel entitled to repost it is not ok. I have family, friends, and teammates who do not need to see me getting injured over and over again. My pain is not your entertainment,” the gymnast added.
It was this past Monday when the now former gymans underwent surgery to repair the damage that was done to her knees and legs.
