Rapper Post Malone has added a rare card to his Magic: The Gathering collection as he’s snagged a piece believed to be worth over $2 million.
The 1-of-1 card, named ‘The One Ring” was released by MTG as part of ‘The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth’ set in June, and was picked up by an anonymous collector. Little was reported after that, but Post Malone tracked it down and bought it off the owner.
While it’s unclear what he paid for it, there have been claims that he parted ways with the sum of $2.6 million.
Malone, a lifelong fan of MTG, was very happy with his purchase, as you can see in the video below. The seller was also pleased to make the exchange with the rapper, claiming he was the first one who came to mind when he got it.
“When I found the One Ring, the first person who came to mind was @Post Malone,” Brook Tafton wrote as the caption to the video showing him selling the card to Post Malone. “I have played MTG since I was a kid and obviously it would be amazing to keep this card. But for a guy like me, being able to sell it is life changing. I just really hoped it would go to someone who would appreciate it as much as I do.”
The card is now set to join Malone’s remarkable collection which already includes several rare pieces, including a Black Lotus worth $800,000.
