It’s been close to a year now since Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen confirmed reports that they were divorcing.
The two had been married for 13 years before announcing last October that they were divorcing. Brady and Bündchen agreed to joint custody of their two children, son Benjamin and daughter Vivian.
During an interview with Lee Cowan on “CBS News Sunday Morning” (h/t Michelle Lee of People), the 43-year-old Bündchen broke her silence on the divorce. Bündchen admitted that it wasn’t what she “dreamed of,” but made it clear she wishes “the best” for the retired NFL quarterback.
“I think it’s not what I dreamed of and what I hoped for. My parents have been married for 50 years, and I really wanted that to happen. But I think you have to accept you know sometimes that the way you are in your 20s, it’s sometimes you grow together, sometimes you grow apart…
He’s the father of my kids. So I always wish him the best, and I’m so grateful that he gave me wonderful children…I think before I was more surviving, and now I’m living, which is different.”
Brady announced his retirement from football on Feb. 1, 2022. 40 days later, however, the seven-time Super Bowl champion announced that he was coming back for a 23rd NFL season. Rumors surfaced that his decision to un-retire made Bündchen unhappy and thus played a factor in their divorce.
The three-time league MVP has been linked to model Irina Shayk, as the two have been seen together several times in public.

Since retiring, Brady has gotten himself involved in the world of sports ownership. He is now part-owner of the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces, owned by Mark Davis. It hasn’t been finalized yet, but Brady will soon join the Las Vegas Raiders’ ownership group, also led by Davis.
Brady signed a lucrative contract in 2022 with FOX Sports last year to eventually work as an NFL analyst, and he’s expected to begin his work there next season.
