This Saturday, June 1, at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang will square off in an intriguing new idea of Frank Warren’s Queensberry and Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom promotions in international boxing.
Both combatants are looking for atonement in their fighting careers. Zhang, the former world champion of the WBO interim heavyweight division, recently lost to Joseph Parker via majority decision. Despite this loss, Zhang defeated Joe Joyce twice in 2023 and is now looking to return to his winning ways.
Conversely, Wilder suffered a depressing unanimous decision loss against Parker and lost the chance to take on Oleksandr Usyk before his matchup with Tyson Fury. Despite suffering three defeats in his past four bouts, Wilder is committed to resurrecting his career.
Estimating Deontay Wilder’s And Zhilei Zhang’s Purse Based On Their Last Fought Match
There has yet to be an official declaration on the purse Wilder or Zhang will receive. However, based on their previous matches, we can assume that the fighters will make a similar amount or higher than stated in the upcoming fight.
China’s heavyweight fighter Zhilei Zhang, an Olympic silver medalist from the 2008 Olympics held in Beijing, fought Joseph Parker in his last bout. The fighter made around $2-$3 million for his fight.
Zhang will undoubtedly be paid at least seven figures for entering the ring, even though the real amount might be much higher than he received in his last fight.

On the other hand, Deontay Wilder fought against Tyson Fury. Fury made one of his biggest paydays with this fight. Before the fight, Fury said he would split the purse 60-40. The fight rose $10 million, of which Fury took home $6 million, while Deontay Wilder was given 40%, which summed up to 4 million.
Based on the above-mentioned figure, Deontay Wilder will make around $4- 5 million from his upcoming fight, or even that speculated amount.
