The world of boxing has delivered well this calendar year. Boxing fans got their first-ever undisputed champion in the Heavyweight division in Oleksandr Usyk after he defeated Tyson Fury in a twelve-round fight. The fans were eagerly waiting to watch the return of legendary boxer Mike Tyson, who was slated to take on YouTuber Jake Paul in the ring on the 20th of July. But as it turns out, Tyson fans will have to wait a bit longer as the former world champion pulled out of the bout.
Fight Promoter Reveals Reason for Mike Tyson Pulling Out of Fight
The 57-year-old Mike Tyson was all set to take on the much younger YouTuber Jake Paul. Many thought the matchup was inappropriate due to the massive age gap between the two. It seems they had their wish granted as Mike Tyson pulled out of the bout due to health concerns. The fight promoter said,
During a follow up consultation on Thursday with medical professionals on his recent ulcer flare-up, the recommendation is for Mike Tyson to do minimal to light training over the next few weeks and then return to full training with no limitations
The medical professional has advised the boxing legend to get involved in minimal training. Therefore, the Hall of Famer pulled out of the bout, and a later date has yet to be announced.
If he is to win against Jake Paul in near future, he will need to knock him out early in the round. Tyson is undoubtedly in possession of some knockout power in the ring. He was known for his deadly combinations and might want to use them in his favor. If the fight goes to distance, it will undoubtedly favor the much younger Paul. Many believe the boxing federation should not let an elderly boxing legend return to the cage against a much younger fighter.
