Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis will fight inside the squared circle this weekend. The undefeated welterweight will face David Avanesyan. Cody Crowley was the original opponent but withdrew due to retina issues. The upcoming matchup will be Ennis’s first fight after the IBF elevated him to full champion.
Boots had won the interim title last year and defended it, paving the way for a super fight against either Terence Crawford or Errol Spence Jr. However, it didn’t materialize as Crawford moved up a weight division, and Spence showed no interest.
Nonetheless, Avanesyan is a good opponent. However, the former WBA welterweight champion has not fought since losing to Crawford in December 2022. Moreover, he is a massive underdog against the undefeated Philadelphia native.

Ennis and Avanesyan will lock horns inside the squared circle on July 13, 2024, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. DAZN will broadcast the fight for free to all subscribers. The fight card will start at 8 PM EST, 7 PM local time. The main card ring walk will likely be around 11:30 PM EST, 10:30 PM local time.
In addition to the main event, the co-main is a title fight. Sky Nicolson, the newly crowned WBC featherweight champion, will take on Dyana Vargas. Like Ennis, Nicolson is a massive betting favorite against Vargas. She won the vacant title last April with a unanimous decision victory over Sarah Mahfoud.
