On April 27, Jose Ramirez will make his 2024 debut live on DAZN in the main event against Rances Barthelemy.
When Ramirez faced Richard Commey in March 2023, he defeated him via knockout in the eleventh round. Ramirez’s winning streak now stands at two after losing to Josh Taylor in an undisputed super lightweight title fight in 2021. The American fighter is hoping to re-enter the title race.
He will take on Barthelemy, a seasoned Cuban fighter who triumphed in his previous match. In May 2023, the 37-year-old defeated Omar Juarez via majority decision, and he is now aiming for a historic triumph over the former unified champion Ramirez.

Jose Ramirez’s Only Loss In Professional MMA To Josh Taylor
Between rounds one through four, Ramírez was the more aggressive of the two, landing 25 of 75 punches versus Taylor’s 11 out of 45. In the sixth round, the Scotsman landed a short left-hand counter on Ramírez’s jaw, which saw Taylor sustain a tiny cut to the corner of his left eye. This knocked the American to the canvas.
By the referee’s count of two, he was back on his feet and finished the round. In the last thirty seconds of the seventh round, Taylor scored a second knockdown with a left uppercut, clearly hurting Ramírez. He stood up again with ten seconds remaining in the round, albeit more slowly than last.

Both men prevailed in the closely contested following five rounds. With a unanimous decision score of 114–112, all three judges favored Taylor, making him the second-ever uncontested champion in Scotland after Ken Buchanan.[8][9] CompuBox data show that Ramírez scored 134 out of 584 (23%), while Taylor landed 145 out of 530 (27%) punches.
