WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo is in some big trouble after he found himself being arrested and facing felony robbery charges following an alleged dispute with a waitress over a bar tab.
According to Texas court records, Charlo was booked on Wednesday on three counts of second-degree robbery stemming from an incident that happened back in July.
A waitress told officers that Charlo’s credit card was declined three times when he was trying to pay the bill. When the waitress informed him of it, he became visibly upset and began yelling at the waitress and the two managers on duty.
Charlo allegedly accused the waitress of losing his credit card and demanded her to pay his bill. Video of the incident shows the waitress holding two binders used to collect money or other forms of payment. Charlo could be seen snatching that binder and taking items.
Police said inside the binder was Charlo’s ID and a cash payment made by another customer the waitress was serving.
According to court documents, Charlo allegedly yelled, “I will [expletive] you all [expletive] up!”

In an effort to de-escalate the situation, the managers allowed the boxer and his party to leave the bar. As the group was leaving, the waitress was allegedly stepped on by someone in the group and suffered a minor leg injury.
The Texas penal code states that a robbery charge is escalated to a second-degree felony if it involves a threat or “places another in fear of imminent bodily injury or death.” The crime is punishable between two and 20 years and a fine of up to $10,000.
Charlo posted bond for all three charges and was released.
The 31-year-old became a rising name in boxing with a record of 30 wins and no losses with 22 knockouts.
