Mike Tyson managed to sneak in some humor following a lopsided loss to Jake Paul in what was, in all likelihood, the final boxing match of his legendary career.
The 58-year-old Mike Tyson came out of retirement for one more match against the 27-year-old YouTube star. The match went the distance to eight rounds, but Paul was unsurprisingly declared the winner via unanimous decision.
Throughout the match, the announcers kept pointing out that Tyson was “biting” his gloves. When Ariel Helwani asked Tyson about it after the match, Tyson hilariously stated, “I have a biting fixation.”
For you younger folks who aren’t familiar, Tyson infamously “bit” off a part of Evander Holyfield’s ear during their WBA Heavyweight Championship match on June 28, 1997, in Paradise, Nevada. Holyfield was declared the winner via disqualification.
Not The Way Mike Tyson Wanted To Go Out
As tough as it is for Iron Mike and his army of fans to accept, there’s just no way he can go back in the ring after this. it’s hard to fault a 58-year-old for being thoroughly dominated by someone 31 years younger than him, but father time is clearly undefeated.
