Ryan Garcia had always expressed his feelings. Garcia had turned it up a hundred when he signed the dotted line to face Devin Haney. The recent Toronto Pride Parade attracted controversy because the participants paraded naked. Due to the sexual nature of the parade, Garcia made scathing remarks against it.
Garcia’s Criticism of Toronto Pride Parade Draws Attention
Even when he acted out to promote his fight against Haney, the former WBC interim champion always wished the best for kids. The 25-year-old even pledged a portion of his fight purse to help the kids affected by the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It now seems Garcia found the Toronto Pride Parade a danger for kids.
“To have this in public with kids watching Is a direct attack on children and on God. No one cares if someone wants to be gay and proud but once children are affected it needs to be stopped. You can’t just walk around naked. Even if you are straight it’s just wrong,” tweeted Garcia, clarifying his criticism does not hold any homophobic connotations.
The pride parade garnered scathing criticism from across the globe. Garcia was one of many who expressed their contempt. Many accused the sexual nature of the parade perversive, satanic, and pedophiliac. Jake Shields, a former UFC title challenger, was among those who also criticized the march. Shields is among social media’s most active ex-MMA fighters, particularly on X.
Garcia’s boxing career is facing a one-year ban from the sport, retroactive to when he fought Haney. Interestingly, UFC CEO Dana White recently defended Garcia’s doping violation. White blamed a tainted supplement for the positive drug test. Gervonta Davis, Garcia’s former opponent, also came to his defense.
