Ryan Garcia has received a one-year suspension from the New York State Athletic Commission. This follows his majority decision victory over Devin Haney on April 20, 2024, initially ending Haney’s undefeated streak. However, the commission nullified Garcia’s win, ruling it a no contest, reinstating Haney’s perfect record of 31-0. Recently, Gervonta Davis and Sean O’Malley discussed the matter, with Davis mocking Haney.
Sean O’Malley Criticizes Devin Haney’s Performance in the Ring Amid Ryan Garcia’s Suspension
UFC bantamweight Champion Sean O’Malley and Gervonta Davis mocked Devin Haney for his boxing performance against Garcia. After knocking Haney down in rounds 7, 10, and 11, Garcia secured a majority decision victory. On X, Davis remarked, “Let’s all not forget the a** whooping that was handed to Devin Haney you can get your record changed but not this a** beating.” In reply to this, Sean O’Malley said, “Finally your dumb ass says something smart”
However, controversy marred Ryan Garcia’s victory when the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association reported a positive test for Ostarine, a banned substance. In response to Garcia’s one-year suspension by the New York State Athletic Commission, Devin Haney announced on social media his intention to take a long break from boxing to travel and enjoy his earnings.
Haney hinted that he might not return to the ring until Garcia’s suspension concludes in a couple of years. Despite accusations of doping, Garcia maintains his innocence, affirming that he has not used any prohibited substances. Now facing a one-year suspension, only time will tell what the future holds for his career.
